What\'s Up in My Life

I’m a person who uses the internet for many helpful things like shopping online, researching info, doing financial tasks and also writing creatively and personally. To me the internet is my way to escape from reality so much so that it sometimes becomes a part of me. When this starts to happen I usually have to do one of the following. Either A.) Turn my laptop off and go out, or B.) Call my friends and talk to them in person or on the phone…

The internet is a tool to escape from the very logical reality to enter into a very practical virtual fantasy. To put it simple we use the internet to attain what we can’t normally do outside of the internet… We shop online because shopping in Japan is more practical online than shopping in Japan when you do it in a reality sense…  I can’t go to Japan on a normal day anytime I feel like it and buy something at the local Gundam Model store, but on the internet I can. The internet is a very helpful tool, but we have to grab some sense of reality when using the internet. This is where the title comes into play. Why the internet is a lie? Well… We always have to look at situations and decision making on two things, the logical and the practical.

We base our choice to act on situations and decisions on logical and practical matters. For example; using the internet to buy something we can understand that logically the internet will have my item than my local store and that its easier to attain which is more practical. Some stuff on the internet isn’t as logical and practical, for exampler; going on a site to pick up girls for a real love relationship from half way around the world. This idea is logical but is it practical? Not really… Yes the internet can give us things that are easy to attain but this is where the lie comes in. Yes the girl in Tokyo is real and you can possibly make a relationship work, is it practical? Not really… Could you make a relationship with a girl in Tokyo work when you live in Miami?  NO WAY, unless you have tons of money to pointlessly spend on this relationship which is also not logical.

So is relationship online practical? Well yes they are but only if the logic is right. If this girl is local or within driving distance then the relationship is practical, but if she lives like seven hours driving distance than its not as practical. The internet likes to make it seem that long distance relationships can work but in reality it’s all a lie. World of Warcraft is a lie that makes this lie of online relationships practical. In WoW you create avatars that can reflect your every persona you give it. Some people try recreating themselves and try finding purpose in the game, some go as far as finding relationships. This is logical and practical but its a lie. We end up using WoW to escape our the practicallity of finding someone more local and realistic at a bar to settle with an avatar made by a person.  This is why society is thinking that online dating is better than real dating… Well lets get a reality check here…

Dating online has a few lies, like first off we don’t know what this person looks like in person, sometimes we get the crappy photoshopped picture of them or the myspace angle shot. We get an idea of what they like in there interest box info but we only read what they want us to read, we don’t know if he secretly kills people or likes excessive amounts of Hentai Porn. This is why dating online isn’t logically good and practically safe, yet people still date online… I honestly think people need to get out and meet people in person first before they go cyber… That’s just my opinon…

Ok so im not really a big holiday event kind of guy. I’ve had my share of awesome holidays but this is maybe one of the worst ones I have ever had… Well not really worst more like boring… Its the holiday that everyone has a stupid excuse not to do anything with anyone… I know I’m guilty of using a holiday to avoid hanging out with certian people, like heck I used one the other day to avoid going out drinking. Holidays are the best time to use the excuse “I’m sorry guys, I would love to hang out and spend tons of money on booze and strippers but I have to go to my grandmothers…” I honestly hate when you call someone and they give you that lame excuse… Whats better? Grandmother or Strippers? DUH!!! Of course some people would be all “Well my family wants me to see her since they dont know if she’ll survive to see another easter.” DAMN… I might not survive from the laughter I’m having for realizing how pathetic your excuse is… Honestly where is everyone? Like no one ever has time for anyone these days. I wanted to go out and drink but instead I end up at home watching Anime till 4am… Seriously? Also I heard exams and finals are soon, so i know people are gonna be uber busy…  But seriously… For those that don’t work or go to school, stop avoiding… I’m just mad that I have to spend another night at home eating pockey and watching another lame episode of Gundam OO… DAMN it…

Like the title says, you probably have a clear idea of what this topic might be about. Well… I am a person who believes in the people I surround myself with. I care and I trust my friends and my family, and I will fight againts those who do any kind of harm to any to them. I’m always there when ever I’m needed and I help those who are in need… With that said… Why do I always feel like my suggestions are only taken into consideration but never seriously? For the past month I’ve been worried that the Anime North Skit for 2010 won’t even happen.

I’ve heard time and time again that we as a group should not try to perform a big skit or aim to win anything and just perform as guests since we have too much to handle with our own convention planning. Since we left G-Anime in early Febuary, I have never heard of anyone planning a skit or even come up with an idea to use till about two weeks ago when I complained that we needed to figure shit out. So out of my own fear of not having a skit for AN 2010 I decided to find an idea for us to use, and I did find an idea, which I believed would bring us to victory and wouldn’t put holes in our pockets.

The idea came to me from something I recorded about a year and a few months ago. It was a little parody to a Disney film that I was able to record and post on youtube. I presented this to my buddies Mark Tjan and Mike Barks while having coffee at a Tim Hortons with them and they both found the idea perfect to use or so I believe they did. Mark suggested the idea on a group forum and people started eating this idea up and for once I felt that my idea was gonna be put on stage until about a week ago when Mark came up to me and decided that he didn’t want to use the skit for AN but rather for G-Anime nine months from now… This is where the title comes into play…

Nine months? Why nine months? This skit is so simple why do you wanna wait nine months? “Because this skit can be bigger, can be better, can be something awesome.” Really? Because I thought about it and I realized, yea it can be but I don’t want to make it bigger personally. I wanna make it the way I intended it to be. Simple, easy and awesome without the extra flashy stuff… I presented the idea in the basic form knowing that the basic form would be successful. The reason I choose this was so that we can perform an awesome winning skit without working as hard to rehurse it. I only brought it out to help us and now I felt that my idea is only good for a convention 9 months from now…

Things can change in nine months, this I tried to explain to them. Our cast might change, our group might change, we might not be able to go to G-Anime in nine months, like there were a lot of key factors that could happen in nine months. Personally I feel a little disappointed in the decision that was made and feel that if I had a cast that was willing to back me at AN to forward this idea, I would take that opportunity. If that opportunity arises I know Mark will allow me to have that chance because I know the situation is rough with our convention planning that we don’t have time to make this 5 minute skit work and if there was people with the same drive as me to make this skit work for AN he would allow me to pursue that goal…Because I’ve helped him so many times before, this is the least he could give me… A chance to put an idea that I felt so strong about on stage…

About two days ago, Mark sent me a copy of the finalized script and after reading the script I was kinda of disappointed on the concept and choice of characters which made me feel that this script wasn’t really up to par with our talents and I felt that my idea was really just a consideration. I just wished people could understand what I really want to accomplish at AN… I hope somebody could really understand how I feel right now as I finish this…

As I sit in my room and look around, I again feel bored and restless… It’s like almost 2:00 am and I can’t seem to fall asleep… What the F%$K!!! What did I do today? Hummm… NOTHING!!! Yes in big capitals I did nothing all day… Oh I was able to sorta organize my Gundam Model kits again. Well I was trying to make more room on my desk so I can finally work on it… Its not easy being a nerd, well I’m starting to feel that being a nerd is all I can do… This weekend was sorta interesting… I was able to go to another convention (HOORAY)… But like any convention that I go to locally, DRAMA seems to follow me around.

Personally, Drama is kinda entertaining, sorta like watching a Soap Opera that involves your friends. Kinda wish I can change the channel sometimes to certain parts… Honestly, its the drama I witness that makes me scared to get back into a relationship… Drama seems to always happen when you’re in a relationship with someone… Like I’m sorta glad I don’t have a demanding girlfriend or an emotionally unstable one… Conventions are so full of couples who are just not stable sometimes… Or they are just a bunch of highschool kids that don’t know what they want…

What do I want? Well, first off… I want to happy personally, which I’m not… How am I not happy? Well, I wanna first get myself out of debt, no more going out for a WHILE!!!!! Afterwards I wanna get my shit together… Like school, money and shit like that… ALSO its time to finally think about me and myself… I hate how I have to pick up for peoples debt… I love to help people all the time, but not when I’m in need of help, in the end people are just bringing me more in debt… I’m not a big fan of covering people espcially when I’m not good in asking to be paid back when I need to be… I just wanna sorta pretend I don’t have money…

Maybe I’ll take my bike to work and not give my buddy Jer a ride home to prevent the over usage of gas, or maybe I’ll stop going out and buying food at restuarants… Last night at Fran’s I spent like $15.00 for a burger and some stress… I could have went to Swiss Chalet and had a quarter chicken dinner for maybe the same price or less and just avoid the stupid drama… The burgers at the place were like the ones my mom fires up from the Sobeys Grocery store… DAMN IT… If 12 people wanna do something, but I know its gonna hurt my pocket, I’ll just go home… People need to be smart, when dining out… I need to be smarter and just fold when I know people like to pretend to be rich… W.E. I’m tired of typing…

So I was over at Mike’s, chilling in his basement like we normally do, discussing over our history of our friendship. It has been 5 years since I joined this group and I felt that somethings in my life have disappointed me… I’ve been doing conventions since I’ve met the group in late summer of 2005… Mind you I didnt go to an actual convention till 2006, but non the less I’ve been with this group since 2005. After watching some of our skits and the skits of others, I was able to make a comparrison to them on the level of performance, cosplay and props… To my disappointment these skits other Cosplay groups have made that won at other cons were way to out of our league compared to the shit (and yes I said shit) we have been producing every year… Sorry to be bashing our previous performances but I feel that nothing has been done to make me feel like I’ve leveled up in skill… Yes I know that I’ve been doing alot of competitions but I feel that our material isn’t exceeding our pervious year… I’m afraid to say this but, I believe we’ve been on the same level and haven’t moved out of this… Mike made me realize that what our group is lacking in order to succeed is just the heart to be serious… Yeah, I know what you’re thinking… Heart??? I have heart??? I work hard, I put my time… Yes you do, but what you lack is the heart to be better… The heart to be a better performer… The heart to be a better cosplayer… The heart to be a better you… Every year since 2007 I’ve been wanting to perform better than that… But guess what, people don’t have the heart to do that skit… Why?? Cause everyone is scared to face the sacrafice to be better… We don’t want to feel the pressure of hard work or the stress of constant practice and yes I know that 2007 almost got everyone to hate each other but guess what? We made an awesome skit, and yes we accomplished something… Will I see that again??? No… Why?? Because no one wants to go through that… Well you know what… I do… And for those who don’t like the chellenge of working hard and being better, than I guess we’re going to be at this level for a long time… But seriously I’m starting to get tired… I’ll take Heather forcing us to practice every weekend, the yelling and arguing over a shitty skit that isn’t better… We need stronger matterial people, and we need it soon…

Like the title says… One week till G-Anime… OMFG I can’t believe it’s convention season, and I’m not even ready for it… I have so many conventions this year I dunno what to do? I’m not even ready for Anime North and its in a few months… What cosplays am I doing?? Who am I going with this year?? Where am I staying?? PANIC!!!!!!!! Every year things have always ran smoothly for doing conventions, but this year it feels like there is just too much on my plate to eat… I have G-Anime, Con-G, MTAC, Anime North, ConBravo, TFCon, Otakuthon and FanExpo… I also have to make costumes for all of these cons…

Pheonix Wright, Hisagi Shuuehi, Snake Eyes, Archer, and I have to purchese Assasins Creed…

I know after G-Anime I have to buckle down on Cosplay!!! Seriously…

No Time to F-Around—

Wow, it seems that every day just keeps getting better and better…GARG!!!! This week they’re trying to cut back on hours by giving us stupid shifts… Damn my job… so today i worked like a three hour shift, and tomorrow I work another three hour shift… So both my shifts equal a whole shift… On top of that, they’re cutting back on staff… Like seriously??? So I work for a company called Sobeys… One of the high end grocery stores in Canada, but not the best… The one thing I hate about working is the f-ing customers… Like what the hell? They keep complaining that the lines are too long… Like this one dude says to me, “So can you call another cashier down?” Im like “fuck you, wait in line like everyone else… we have no more cashiers…” I wish one these assholes just calls head office and tell them that we can’t keep working like this… You know why they do this though? To save money and get an f-ing bonus… Yup, thats right… We have to work harder so our bosses can get a fucking bonus, but do we get a peice of that? NO FUCKING WAY!!! I hate how companies work. This isnt just Sobeys doing it, but every service industry. All they want to do is exploit young hard working people and make more money… But thats the sad reality of life… Well Im done ranting for the day… Pardon my french, Im not normally like this (swearing)… I just finished another episode of Fate Stay Night… YAY GEEKEM… Ok bored of typing, got to go… Blog you later

So this is my first Blog… What to write first??? Humm, well I decided to write about my days for the pleasure of those who read my blogs… Well for those that dont know me, my name is Adrian… Some people call me AJ since I guess two letters is easier to remember than six… I’m nothing special except that I’m an uber geek and love to waste my time on episode after episode of anime… What anime? Whatever I can get my asian hands on… Yes I said I’m asian and proud to be one… Do I fit the typical stereotype?? Well… I drive a Mazada Speed Protege (Asian), love video games, and watch anime… I also build Gundam Model kits on my spare time and when I can afford them… So if that doesnt fit the stereotype I guess I dont know what the asian steretype is… So what did I do today? Hummm… well I did go over to a group get together that was semi productive… Afterwards I saw Avatar for the second time and in 2D, this time i brought my own date… The last time I saw it I went with my buddies…  You always tend to miss something the first time and the second time i was able to get some of those miss scenes cleared up… The lines at AMC were rediculous, and the price was just too much for a shitty experience… I paid $10 at Encore Theatres here in Oakville and got to see it in 3D, I paid like $14 at AMC and saw it in 2D… talk about rip off… Oh well, have to please my date… No cheap show for yours truely…
